A list of things I'm going to miss about Thailand: 1.) Those weird advertisement vans. They're everywhere, and they blast advertisements while driving up and down the roads. Like an ice cream truck, but more annoying and way louder, and they sell everything from curtains to brooms to sticky rice. 2.) On that note, sticky rice. Both the dessert kind and the regular meal kind. 3.) Fresh tropical fruits. Mango, mangosteen, mayongchit, rambutan, and a whole lot of others. Also, I'm going to miss being able to think 'wow, I want a mango' and then walking five hundred feet to the market and getting said mango. 4.) Cafe Amazon. It's everywhere here. Like Starbucks but cheaper and it has good smoothies. 5.) Thai people in general. I can't express enough how kind they are. Almost every stranger I've met has been incredibly nice and so understanding. I went to the market with my host mom the other day, and she talked to all the vendors like they were old...

Okay. Round two, here we go. I am writing this first sentence barely seven hours after posting my last entry. Odds are I will procrastinate and post this a month later. Somewhere around February 1st, things started to suck. Like, really suck, as in me thinking I had the then newly emerging Corona virus that probably wasn't even in the country yet. I was sick for about two weeks, which I think is longer than I've ever been sick for in my entire life and definitely longer than I'd ever like to be sick for again. The entire thing was a twelve day mess of feeling so weak that I could hardly manage a trip up the stairs on my own without passing out on the floor from exhaustion, which did actually happen once (only for a couple minutes). Super fun. I can look back on it now and laugh, though, because there's something hilario...

Wow, remember that time I said I wouldn't procrastinate on this? Me neither, apparently. It's been over four months since the last time I updated this, and things have gone crazy in so many ways since then- both good and bad.  In my defense, I was planning on updating this on February 23rd, but that didn't happen for whatever reason and I can't recall why. I remember getting incredibly sick with a stomach bug somewhere in that general time frame, so I'll blame it on that. I have a list of things that I did, and I believe I left off on my last entry with Christmas. So I'll start there. My first host family took me to Koh Chang for the new year. Koh Chang, which translates to Elephant Island, is an island near Trat (about two hours southeast of Chanthaburi) and is a popular tourist spot. I had the amazing opportunity to spend the new year snorkeling in tropical waters, with colorful fish and beautiful scenery that looked like something out of a movie. I neve...
